OAK
European Oak
The wood of oak is part of the ring porous species. Annually, in spring and summer the log grows with bigger, wider, softer pores in order to transport water and plant nutrients from the roots to the upper areas. During the annual period of autumn and winter, the tree builds up harder and more dense wooden material for natural static reasons. This differences of each annual ring creates the texture of wood and reports about the history of each tree. Narrow and regular grown annual rings for instance show up slowly grown logs in mid of a long-lasted and professionally controlled forest. Sufficient time in the growth of the oak tree is needed to grant for a good quality of the wooden floor.
